The secondary education program offer courses to qualify candidates to entry-level teacher licensure.

Our approach is to build teaching knowledge and skills framed by academic content and education courses. Teachers learn to create learning experiences by practice.

The degree curriculum in Teacher Education is designed for those students interested in the fields of teaching in the elementary grades and secondary schools.  Our curriculum provides a suitable undergraduate major and minor for students who plan to go on to school administration or a related discipline.

Core Curriculum and Majors

The academic instruction for Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education program requires a core curriculum and at least 32 credit hours of foundational and professional coursework.  To complete areas of specialization for non-science majors 30-35 units is required, and for science majors 40-45 credit units in the field of specialization.
